Three Things Challenge: PL165

Rules from Paula:

Welcome to the Three Things Challenge. Every day at 10PM (PST) I will post three seemingly unconnected things that will, hopefully, ignite your muse. You don’t have to use all three things if you don’t want to. There are no restrictions on length, style, genre, or anything. Simply read the prompt, see where your muse takes you, and bring us along for the ride. Use 3TC as a tag if you’d like and link back to this prompt, or post your link in the comments below so others can find you.

Today’s prompt: monopoly, goldfish, Rome

**************************

Board Games!

By Teresa Smeigh 2019

Mandy looked at her little goldfish Mona and wished she could play games with her. She was so bored. She had just moved to Rome and she wondered if they had a version of monopoly using Rome streets. They had put out some different cities. Which brought her back to the problem of who would play with her anyhow.

Just then there was a knock on the door. It was the pizza boy and he was definitely a hunk. She wouldn’t mind playing with him.

He liked her too and after talking for a bit he agreed to come back after his shift and play board games with her.

**************************

Salute!

By Teresa Smeigh 2019

James came around the counter to head to the large glass window front. The flag was passing in review and he saluted it.

Today’s prompt: north, payoff, promise

**************************

Payoff

By Teresa Smeigh 2019

“Where are you headed Charly to pay your monthly payment,” his father asked.

“The north side,” Charly said.

“Well, it should be the last time dad as he’s requesting a payoff and not a bunch of promises.”

“Do you have enough to make a payment of that size?”

“He’s not giving me a chance. In full, he said, or consequences will be levied. I never should have gotten involved with him, but it is too late now. I found out too late he was a loan shark. Now the house is in jeopardy or some of my body parts are.”

Today’s prompt: razor, skyscraper, wheat

**************************

Cream of Wheat

By Teresa Smeigh 2019

Charlie admired the new skyscraper that had shown up in his kitchen windows’ view. It was sleek and modern and full of glass.

He set down his bowl of Cream of Wheat and headed to the bathroom so he could run his razor over his already baby soft face. He didn’t have much hair on his body, evidenced by the baldness of his head.

Today’s prompt: liar, bubblegummountain

**************************

Liar Extraordinaire

By Teresa Smeigh 2019

Everyone knew that Sam Johnson was a liar extraordinaire.  There wasn’t a subject he could talk about without lying somewhere during it. It was getting out of hand, and the townspeople were getting tired of it and him.

One of the townspeople, who was chewing on a large piece of gum, said he felt that he should be banished to the mountain and away from all the townsfolk. No one should have to listen to Sam Johnson over and over again. It was doubtful that he could even tell the truth anymore.

It was put to a vote and by a unanimous decision, he was banished to the mountain until the end of time or his demise.

Today’s prompt: president, ice, yarn

**************************

Specialty Yarn

By Teresa Smeigh 2019

Cheryl was the president of the knitting club. They were having their monthly meeting and were talking about some new yarn that had come out and whether to invest in it for their next project for charity.

Cheryl was gesturing with her hands and didn’t realize how close her glass of tea was. Before she knew it, she had knocked it over, and the ice rolled across the table headed for the samples of the new yarn.

Today’s prompt: canoe, sherbetmonitor

**************************

Canoe Trip

By Teresa Smeigh 2019

“Are you almost ready for our canoe trip, Faith?”

“Mark, I have to check my blood sugar and then I want to eat this sherbet. Have you seen my blood sugar meter?”

“Do you need to do that now. I want to get to the canoe site with our friends before they leave without us.”

“I can skip the sherbet, but I do need to check my blood sugar. It is time and you don’t want me to drop too low and faint again.”

Mark finds the meter allowing Faith the chance to check her blood sugar and grab a quick snack that she could eat on the way to meet their friends.

Today’s prompt: witch, pillow, margarita

**************************

Nasty Old Witch

By Teresa Smeigh 2019

We walked the same route every night. It was the nicest route with houses full of beautiful flowers surrounding them.

The bad part of the walk is the nasty old witch, propped up on pillows and drinking margaritas and shouting epithets. No matter what time of day or night she lay there ensconced in her pillows, drinking and calling everyone names as they meander past.

We need to find a new route.

Today’s prompt: party, lump, crossbow

**************************

Dinner Party

By Teresa Smeigh 2019

Geneva was having a dinner party. The company was arriving and she was busy hanging up the coats.

Her husband was introducing guests to each other and then their son appeared with a crossbow. There was a lump in the carpet and he suddenly shot it. It turned out to be a rat that had escaped the traps set outside and made his way inside with one of the guests.

The dinner party guests asked for their coats back. The dinner party was over after that.

**************************

Bridal Shower

By Teresa Smeigh 2019

The bride-to-be was daintily eating her sandwich at her bridal shower. Her bridesmaids put on a good show and even hired a ventriloquist for entertainment. The guy was pretty funny.
