100 Word Challenge – inspiration is the word homemade

100 Word Challenge – inspiration is the word homemade

*****100 words*****

Homemade food is not my thing. I hate to cook. I will eat other people’s homemade food, but I hate to cook for me or others.

Now when it comes to homemade clothes I used to make my own clothing including bathing suits when I was a teenager. I made short shorts, mini skirts, and even complete suits. Since my shorts were so small I had tons of them in all kinds of patterns and types of materials. I contemplated making my own wedding dress, but I didn’t.

When I had my 2 daughters I made their clothes as well.

Tara’s Rules

1) I provide a one-word prompt.
2) Write anything you want using that prompt, either as inspiration or as part of your 100 Words. (That means you don’t have to actually use the prompt word, it can be implied.)
3) Your story has to be EXACTLY 100 words (because someone will ask, hyphenated words count as a single word.) This is the one rule I will be a stickler about.
4) Submit your story here as a comment, as a Facebook status, or as a blog post. (Add the specific FB status or post’s URL to the Mr. Linky list just under the prompt.)
5) If you write a blog post, please link back to this post. It makes it easier for me and the other Wordsters to find you.
6) You have one week to write your story and link up (The link stays open, so you can really submit stories whenever… this is the one rule I don’t really enforce.)

100 Word Challenge – inspiration is the word chatter

100 Word Challenge – inspiration is the word chatter

“Your report card never changes. ‘Great Student, but chatters way too much. Disrupts the Class.’ It hardly ever varies.”

“Oh, mom and dad it could be worse. At least I don’t smoke in the girl’s room.”

“And you better not start either.”

“I’m a good student, and everyone knows that including my teachers. I can’t help the chatting in class, though.”

“How hard is it to keep your mouth closed during class? You have all of recess to talk to them.”

“Recess is for talking to my other friends who aren’t in my class.”

“Oh Terri, won’t you ever learn?”

*****100 words*****

And the obvious answer is no I will never learn. I talked all through school. My mother in exasperation of the constant phone calls because of my talking finally told that teacher then she should just move the other student because when they moved me I picked up my books and slammed them on the other desk. Wouldn’t it be easier to just move that other student? She shocked the teacher who had never thought about it.

100 Word Challenge – inspiration is the word fire

100 Word Challenge – inspiration is the word fire

I was in the kitchen at work one day when I heard the fire alarm. I tried to see how we could exit the building from the back. There was a tiny path.

Suddenly I was paralyzed with fear. Someone pulled me to the back of the building.

There was only one way we could go. The front had been cut off by the fire.

We ran along the small path covering our heads with our hands as the windows were exploding overhead raining down fire and glass on us. The beast of the fire was rapidly on our tails.

100 Word Challenge – inspiration is the word write

100 Word Challenge – fan is the write

I am now writing my memoirs. I started out with one long one for my marriage, but the title was for the military years and my life during that time and then continued with civilian life. Everything I read suggested that I  should cut it down to the military years.

So now I have 4 different ones: my childhood, my life as a military wife, then civilian wife and then after the divorce which is now. My life boiled down to 4 sections.

Now I spend most of my time writing. I write a lot of prompts on my blog.

100 Word Challenge – inspiration is the word fan

100 Word Challenge – fan is the word

As I moved into my new apartment, I was overwhelmed by the heat, and it was only mid-April. I continued moving into my apartment, and someone came to meet me, my new neighbor and she was telling me about how hot it gets up on the 6th floor as the heat rises so by April we have to use the AC and long into November we are still using them. She also mentioned that we have to keep the windows open during most of the winter with the fans running. It is rare to have to turn on the heat.

By the way, she was right!

100 Word Challenge – inspiration is the word skinny

100 Word Challenge – skinny is the word

I can’t use skinny to describe myself anymore. Skinny hasn’t defined me since I had my first baby. After that first birth, I just kept adding more weight on. Now my last baby was 32 years ago, and I am still gaining weight.

Said child came to see his mother this weekend. He moved several states away and has adopted the vagabond lifestyle. I am glad he came to see his friends and me too.

They have decided to go camping for two of the nights he’s here. He spent the first night with me. He’s leaving on Monday sometime.

100 Word Challenge – inspiration is the word order

100 Word Challenge – inspiration is the word order

There is no order in my life. I have tried lists. I have even tried really detailed lists, and nothing seems to help. My life is a mess. My calendar is the closest I get to order. I buy one with huge boxes for each day and write everything on there. I have tried fancy organizers and spent a lot of money on them to no avail.

So I will stay with my calendars. I somehow got in the middle of the year and now every June I start searching for the calendar that begins in July rather than January.

100 Word Challenge – inspiration is the word Dirt

100 Word Challenge – inspiration is the word Dirt

My apartment is filthy. Dirt has infiltrated my apartment. It could be worse, of course, but it is bad enough. However, I do not have the energy since the Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is sucking out every bit of strength I have to survive and get out of bed for a while each day. Doing just a simple wipe down knocks me out.

I finally had to ask my daughter to please help me clean this place up. I am supposed to keep it tidy. We have inspections.

Today was the first day. It needed more than a minor pick up.

*****100 words*****

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome sucks the very life out of you. If you don’t have it you have no idea how much it sucks out of you. Add that to the pain that I suffer 24/7 and have for over 40 years and life just doesn’t seem much fun or worth living.

My daughter and her 2 children helped me immensely today. At least at a glance, things look better except for the clutter and all my notes from my books and writing all over the place. I also need her organizing skills. Paper is piling up in large piles. I paid the 2 grandchildren for their time.

100 Word Challenge – inspiration is the word Lizard

100 Word Challenge – inspiration is the word Lizard

I’m not particularly fond of lizards. Thankfully there are not a lot of them in New Jersey. I have occasionally found one around here, but thankfully not many. My son, now living in North Carolina, has sent me pictures of lizards. When he was a child, he did try to raise lizards, but they kept dying in the tank he had to keep them in.

Now when we visited Florida, the house we stayed in, had a huge screened in yard so they could keep their house open but didn’t have to worry about lizards and other creatures getting in.
