Strokes, Fibromyalgia, Spinal Degeneration and BusyBodies

Due to my physical and mental issues I have to cut my visiting the rehab center down to maybe once a week. At the blink of an eye I am crying. I am tired of people seeing me crying and having loss of my emotions so that I have to constantly contact my therapist to calm me down. My dad is fading away. He doesn’t want to live. He is done with this life and ready to go to heaven to be with his beloved wife. How do you have a conversation with someone who can’t remember his life or much of yours? My dad was a football (USA) freak and if his favorite team wasn’t playing he would watch another game with just as much enthusiasm. Now he refers to the Philadelphia Eagles as those green guys throwing a ball around and why were people clapping? His joy of football is gone. He was avid with politics and they were always on and he was up on everything, Now he isn’t even sure what country he is in and spends a lot of time in WW2 or his childhood.

Now we come to the busybodies. My sister and I are having to make emotional decisions as to our dad’s care. If you ever had to make those decisions for a loved one you know it is not easy and it hurts to have to decide where your loved one will live. Is he going to be safe? Well taken care of? And the ton of paperwork and the government comes in and in one fell swoop everything he worked for all his life is gone. We are not rich. He can’t afford home care for 24/7. So we must liquidate the man’s belongings and apply to the government (Medicaid in the USA) to pay for his upkeep and care. He kept my mom at home and was her sole caregiver. It was hard on him, but he didn’t complain, but we don’t have the same option now. She had Parkinson’s Disease and Dementia and by the time she needed full time care he had retired early and was there. He didn’t want our help, it was his wife and his responsibility according to his wedding vows. My sister did try to get them to go to assisted living where he could go with her, but they would take care of her. They refused. My mom wanted to go to a nursing home now called Long Term Care, but when we explained it she chose to stay home with dad. This is not the same situation. He can’t be left alone. He knows he is not supposed to get out of the chair or the bed, but tries often. He needs constant care which we can’t give him. We are doing the best that we can. When he’s lucid he understands and is fine with long term care and then he’ll flip the other way and it’s all about when he’s going home. Neither conversation is pleasant.

Those of you who have never been through something like this keep your comments to yourself. We feel guilty enough even though we are doing every thing we can for the man who raised us.

The pain and popping in my spine is getting worse. I can barely move and I have to wait until October 2 before I get the 6 facet joint injections in my spine and due to new laws my weight won’t allow me to have sedation. I had just one in my knee and screamed bloody murder so can only imagine 6 of them at once. All I can have is local anesthesia. It doesn’t do much. And the stress is allowing my Fibromyalgia to flare up as well and for 5 days before the injections I can’t have my NSAID arthritis medicine so don’t know how this is going to work. I am terrified of just going off my arthritis medicine. I can still take the percosets which help, but not much. I need the combination, but NSAIDS are blood thinners and not allowed 5 days before.

New Year, New Problems

Bankruptcy is ongoing. All these holidays putting things off. I have given two banks the lawyers info.

My Amazon account was hijacked. Doesn’t look like anything was purchased. They got in and changed my email address and password. Their computer techs were able to lock my account and sent me to a page to  change it. Canceled any orders if there were any that weren’t processed. Recent viewings weren’t mine. Seems to be changed now and working under my email address.

I couldn’t have my last lumbar epidural so just was able to schedule one for 4 weeks, The pain is tremendous. Have no choice but to wait. Hopefully won’t have to cancel this one.

Blood Sugars Still Dropping Despite Eating Carbs and Dropping Insulin

I had carbs last night, no shots, but the 34 units of slow acting Tresiba and my sugar was still low fasting. I wonder what part God plays in this. I would love to stop using insulin and be healed of Diabetes which is supposed to be not possible. This sudden drop in my numbers and the lack of need for the insulin is a miracle in itself. Last night I had regular cookies with sugar in them and low carb peanut butter cups plus a bowl of blueberries (fruit so sugar of course) and whipped cream that also contained sugar. And the black tea. Several cups a day.

Does the black tea play a part in this? Is it the daily faith healings? Is is something inside of me?

My sugars this morning were 65 which is low. This is all mighty strange, but so far so good. I would love to stop the needles and even stop pills. I know they say you can heal Diabetes, but you have to admit this is strange and I have added sugar back into my diet, not a lot, not to access, but sugar none-the-less.

Opiates for Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

Opiates for Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

I find the percocets help with the Degenerative Disk Disease, but not so much with the Fibromyalgia or regular arthritis. I use Meloxicam (NSAID) for the arthritis. When I have to stop it 5 days before my epidurals (steroid injections) the pain intensifies and the percocets hardly help at that point.

Medications for these conditions can be difficult to work out.

Still struggling with Chromebook

My typing is getting worse. It was bad enough, but now I have to get used to a new keyboard.

Tomorrow I have my appointment with the lawyer. Anxiety growing.

Pain is increasing and my next epidural steroid shot is the 12th, One week from today. At least it isn’t as bad as the first time. This pain is less.

My next project is to learn how to print from here and redo the documents I need. I can’t just copy them over as far as I know, I don’t believe Google or Office are compatible. I have a dummies book and to help me.

Diabetes Chronicles 1

Those of you who know me well, know that I have Diabetes Type 2, Insulin Dependent. I have had the Diabetes for about 20 years and didn’t care. I was in denial and ate what I wanted and now I find myself on insulin.

I started the insulin in June of 2017. I never thought I could inject myself as I am deathly afraid of needles, but I learned injecting myself was a lot less painful than sticking my finger for the blood checks. I do blood checks around 4 times a day or more if I have a low reading and I give myself injections 4 times a day. With each meal and one long lasting one at bedtime.

The biggest thing with this disease is following a low carb diet. Considerably lower than the American Diabetes Association recommends. They have not updated their medicine and diet guidelines despite all the new research out there that the lower the carbs per day the better off we will be and some of us eventually get off meds, lose lots of weight and get more normal readings and A1c readings.

I belong to a FaceBook group and they are adamant in this way of eating (WOE) and it really does work. It is a shame though that so many people are avidly following the ADA and dying young or losing limbs, or eyesight or having damage to their other organs.

I am following a diet of less than 50 carbs per day (LCHF), not meal as the ADA recommends. They recommend 45 carbs per meal and 15 grams per 2 snacks per day. Though 50 is the highest they recommend per day in this group most eat less than 20 grams per day. The Keto diet. If nothing else I follow the Low Carb High Fat diet and no I don’t want to discuss how the fat is or isn’t bad or any other parts of this way of eating. Read up on Keto diets and low carb high fat  if you are interested. If you want to join the group, I will be happy to give you the name and you can join the group and get all this information much better than I can explain it.

I just had to go back to the basics. I wasn’t getting the results that others were and I was still struggling with the sweets.

Epidural done yesterday, feeling much better

The local anesthesia was the worst part. Didn’t feel the actual steroid injection. By the time I got my pain pill a couple of hours later it took a couple of hours to start feeling better.

I could turn over in bed without the resulting pain and this morning getting out of bed was easier. I can walk easier, not all stiff and little steps as I did with that terrible pain. I haven’t felt this well in decades.

Ruby I kept your prayer cloth in my pocket right next to where they were working. It gave me comfort. Thank you to you and your church for praying for me.
