Thursday photo prompt: Poised #writephoto

Thursday photo prompt: Poised #writephoto

For visually challenged writers, the image shows a leaf-strewn flight of stone-cut steps descending into a hole in the ground. Poised to ascend…or descend… is the dark silhouette of a strange figure…( I am not visually challenged, but I had no idea what this picture was, thanks for the description)

This is the continuation of John and Susan. I have decided to make this a book. Obviously, there will be a different start and even changes to the chapters. I will take this to a certain point to keep your attention while I can, but like the other week when I had to break into this story because the picture didn’t work, it may end at any time although I will try to give you a gist of the story.

The Kids Wait for Answers to Their Questions

By Teresa Smeigh 2019

Everyone rushes to Joanne and talks at once. Oliver shouts,” Be Quiet!” and everyone immediately shuts up. “Someone get some smelling salts or don’t you have that here in the boondocks?”

“I’ll get some,” John said, running towards his house. He finds a bottle and brings it out to Oliver.

Oliver waves it under her nose, and she comes to with a shudder and says, “Am I dreaming?”

“No, Mom, you passed out. Are you okay?”

“Okay, I think, though I thought I was seeing two of you.”

“Well, in a way, mom you were. Oliver here looks like me, and since you fainted when you saw us together, I gather there is a story here. And we all want to hear it. “

“Oliver, where is your father?”

“He is still working. He usually works until at least 7 PM and then comes home if nothing holds him up.”

“Ah, the same old Jack. He always came home late. Where are you staying and when are you going back to England?”

“Actually, mom, his dad bought the Marshall land with the little pond we all gather at and swim. Hey Oliver, do you think your dad will still let us swim there and gather there during the cool weather?”

“I don’t know. Maybe if I am going to be there, my dad will let everyone else use the area as well. Will you guys let me join in?”

“Sure, Oliver. You are welcome to join us. Although how do we tell you two apart? You sure look alike. You must be twins. I can’t wait to hear Mrs. Wright’s story,” Susan said. “Well, I suppose your father is part of the story as well, Oliver. Did you know about John before you ran into him?”

“No, I didn’t, I can’t wait to hear this story myself, Dad and Mrs. Wright have a lot of explaining to do.”

“While we wait for them to get their story together, let’s head out to those old steps cut into the stone. We can show Oliver another area. Come on, Oliver, I am sure you haven’t explored much,” John said.

When they got there, they paused at the top of the steps watching Oliver. Oliver was poised at the top trying to decide if he wanted to go down and look at them. He wondered whether he really wanted to climb down them. Oliver was amazed at the built-in stone steps. He thought he saw someone at the bottom, but didn’t say anything in case it was supposed to be there. He decided against going down the steps.

Though I bet watching even a part of the video will stir something in you.

The rules of the game are the same i.e. no rules. There is no bar on the length or format of the piece. Write a post on your blog, and link it up here with a pingback, or copy-paste the blog link in Comments. Tag it Reena’s Exploration Challenge for easy access in the Blog Roll.

I’m already inspired.
