The Puppet and the Lady

By Teresa Smeigh 2019

Stealthily sneaking through the dark shadows in the tent the puppet made his way to the tent of the world’s smallest lady. He does this routine every night and every night he hopes he doesn’t get caught. He loves Irina, the world’s smallest lady and she him, but the world doesn’t know that he isn’t really a puppet, but a prince who had a spell cast on him hundreds of years ago. Irina is beautiful, but she too had a spell put on her by the same wizard. Fate had put them in the same circus. They fell in love.

Although the wizard made him a puppet, he didn’t take his life away from him so he could still love his lovely Irina. They lived for their nightly tryst. They hadn’t kissed as the wizard warned them that if they did, he would freeze them forever as the puppet and the beautiful statue. They were too afraid to test whether he was serious or not. There love would remain unrequited.

#WEEKENDCOFFEESHARE : spending money on clothes

Directions from ECLECTICALLI

Weekend Coffee Share is a time for us to take a break out of our lives and enjoy some time catching up with friends (old and new)!

Grab a cup of coffee and share with us! What’s been going on in your life? What are your weekend plans? Is there a topic you’ve just been ruminating on that you want to talk about?

All are welcome! Just add your link to the Linky-List, and be sure to visit others and join in their conversations! The link will be open from Friday, February 8th at 7am (Pacific Time) until Monday, February 11th at 7am (Pacific Time) to give us a good range of “weekend”!

If we were to have a coffee chat this weekend or maybe ice tea as the temps have risen to the near 70’s or higher at times of the day, almost every day now. In fact, it was 80 plus for several days.

I did some work on my memoir, but I am also still researching. I have about 5 chapters done so far. So far I haven’t quit. I don’t know if it will ever be published, but it will hopefully be written to a conclusion.

My pain is still bad despite the fact that I got my pain pills back up to 4 a day. She never did give me an answer as to why she lowered them. Then she added Topamax to my mix. Not sure how that will help.

I am hooked on buying clothing right now. I heard about these leggings from a company called Pop Fit Clothing on FaceBook and ordered them like a fool. At first, I got hooked on their introductory package and it is a subscription program and when I got them I took them out of the package and thought no way these would fit even though their size chart said they would. I held them up and tried to stretch them side to side and couldn’t pull them out to the middle of my middle. I wasn’t about to try and cram them on. I was furious and wrote them a sort of nasty note and told them I wanted to return them and get my money back. I was told I can’t have my money back. They have a no refund policy on the new introductory program itself. I didn’t see it and seeing refund policy I assumed it was like most. You know what they say about assuming.

I wrote back again, even madder. Well, they were very nice and politer than I was LOL! They explained that they use a 4-way stretch material (and I had seen pictures of people heavier than me wearing leggings so I wondered why I couldn’t fit in them) and that they would stretch and asked me to please try them on. Well to my surprise they did stretch out to fit and actually pulled the flab in some. Plus the ones I ordered had 2 pockets in them. Nice pockets and my phone fits nicely without falling out.

Well, I had to apologize for my nasty notes. I usually don’t act like that, but I spent a lot of money and was just mad. Of course, since I have a big butt I will have to order long shirts that will go with the leggings and they are comfortable. I was amazed at those large woman wearing the same size as me. The hand washing part is annoying though.

I do love the pocket part though. That was always a bad thing about leggings.

Tomorrow is the weekly brunch with my BFF. We will be going in the rain though according to my phone and the weather report. I had to park fairly far from the building door so I will be getting wet on the way there and who knows where we will be parking once at the restaurant.

Three Things Challenge: PL79

Three Things Challenge: PL79

Rules from originator:

Welcome to the Three Things Challenge. Every day at 10PM (PST) I will post three seemingly unconnected things that will, hopefully, ignite your muse. You don’t have to use all three things if you don’t want to. There are no restrictions on length, style, genre, or anything. Simply read the prompt, see where your muse takes you, and bring us along for the ride. Use 3TC as a tag if you’d like and link back to this prompt, or post your link in the comments below so others can find you.

Happy Writing! 😀

Today’s prompt: star, lake, telegram

The Telegram

By Teresa Smeigh 2019

As the star twinkled and fell towards earth, Marly stood on the bank of the lake, staring at the telegram in her hand. She couldn’t see it in the dark, but she didn’t need the light to see it, to know what it said. The contents were ingrained in her mind.

Mark was gone. Killed in action with his whole regiment.

Marly sunk to the ground and wept with grief. He was supposed to be on his way home for their wedding tomorrow. God, how could you do this?
