Twittering Tales #134 by Kat – 4/30/19

Inspired by Kat at Twittering Tales

Mom’s memory was gone. She lived in a nursing home and no longer talked. We had been asking her about the letters from Jerry to no avail.

We wondered if he was someone who would need her current location and condition. They weren’t from dad as he was long gone. These were new.

**********278 characters************

Rules from Kat:

Each Tuesday I will provide a photo prompt. Your mission, if you choose to accept the challenge, is to tell a story in 280 characters or less. When you write your tale, be sure to let me know in the comments with a link to your tale. If you would prefer to post your tale in the comments (some people have very specific blog themes but still want to participate), I am happy to post a link to your site when I post your tale in the Round Up.

A final note: if you need help tracking the number of characters in your story, there is a nifty online tool that will count for you at charactercountonline.com.

I will do a roundup each Tuesday, along with providing a new prompt. And if for some reason I missed your entry in the Roundup, as I have occasionally done, please let me know. I want to be sure to include your tale.

Finally, have fun!

And REMEMBER…you have 280 characters (spaces and punctuation included), to tell your tale…and a week to do it. I can’t wait to see what you create this week.

The Weekly Smile 04/29/2019 #weeklysmile – new iPhone

The Weekly Smile 04/29/2019 #weeklysmile – new iPhone

I just got a new iPhone 8 the other day. I had paid off my iPhone 7 and now have moved up one. My son wondered why I didn’t get the newest one. Price, problems and so different couldn’t reuse case or anything. I like one that is similar to what I had. I am so not smarter than my phone. Less change the better for me. 🙂

Trent’s Rules

What made you smile?

****

Come on, I’m sure you smiled at least once last week.  Why don’t you share it?  I hope you can join in!

Here is list of “rules” and guiding ideas.  If you don’t have time to read it right now, just remember that this is an exercise to spread positivity.  Don’t smile about the misfortune of others.  Don’t smile in a way to excludes others.  Make sure a 12 year old can read it.

And remember, the Smile can be anything, large or small.  Nothing, nothing at all is too small for a Smile!  Sometimes taking time to notice those small, every day smiles is more important than those once in a lifetime huge ones 🙂

To join in, write a post to share your smile and then leave a comment on this post with a link to your smile.  Or, if you prefer, do a pingback to this post (pingback = have a link from your post to this one).   You can post any time until next Sunday evening (to be simple, I will say midnight GMT, which is 7 PM Sunday for me).   Next week I will compile all of the Smiles and do a separate post of them on Monday morning just before the smile.  (I will shoot for around 7 AM EST).

Try to use the hashtag #WeeklySmile when you use Twitter or other social media that uses hashtags. I searched Twitter and found that #weeklysmile had been used only a handful of times back in 2012 and 2013. It hasn’t been used since. So it’s ours! I also registered it on Twubs.

You can use the graphic at the top. It is the official graphic for the event.

Now go out there and find something to smile about! 🙂

“There are days I go in search of the kind, compassionate, loving and beautiful. Despite what we sometimes see on the news, FB and elsewhere, there is much more beauty in the world than ugliness, much more kindness than hate or cruelty. Perhaps we should all have a goal to make at least one person smile every day.”

Today’s prompt: lawyer, carouselchocolate

**************************

Sue Crazy

By Teresa Smeigh 2019

Tom was a lawyer. He was headed to the carousel with his wife, Mandy, when he slipped on a piece of chocolate. “I’m gonna sue this place,” he yelled, causing everyone who hadn’t seen him fall suddenly turn and stare. Mandy was embarrassed, but Tom was too irate to notice everyone staring at him and pointing.

“Tom, please. You aren’t hurt and you’re making a perfect fool of yourself.”

“Someone is going to pay for this.”

Share Your World 4-29-19

QUESTIONS:

  1. If you could interview anyone from your life living or dead, but not a celebrity, who would it be and why? My great-great or great-great-great grandmother who was a full bred natural born Native American Indian. I would to hear about her life and how she came to marry the man she did.
  2. As a child, did you have a nickname?  Did you carry that with you throughout life or was it only in childhood that you used it? I was always called Terri for Teresa. Here in blogland only I am called Tessa since I always liked that name, but changing Terri for everyone to call me Tessa would just be too difficult. The first time I got snail mail addressed to Tessa Smeigh my father is very confused. He didn’t know I used Tessa online and when one of my online friends wrote me she used Tessa because that is how she knows me.
  3. Give us three words that describe you: honest, emotional, trustworthy (yes I was a girl scout LOL!)
  4. Sneaking into a second movie at the theater (if you go to a movie house)?  Is that wrong or just harmless ‘fun’? Well I think it is wrong. You paid for one movie and therefore should only attend one, but that is how I got called Miss Goody Two-Shoes LOL!
  5. If you had a time machine would you go back to the past or forward into the future?  Why? This is hard. I had a horrible childhood and my life up to now (I am 62) hasn’t been too good, but not sure I want to go to the future as my chronic pain isn’t going to get any better, but worse. Unless a miracle happens my life-style is also going to get worse as I get older. If I go back and still remember what my future was maybe I could change some things to make my life better.

What were you thankful for during April? I am thankful we have had much warmer weather. At least when I am outside. Inside though it is too hot and I have to run the air conditioner already which is not so good for the electric bill, but at least I have an air conditioner which a lot of people here don’t have and the farther up you go in this building , the hotter it gets.

Today’s prompt: trash, animaldebutante

**************************

Dizzy Deb

By Teresa Smeigh 2019

Debbie was all dressed up in her ball gown for the debutante ball tonight. As she was making her exit out of the house and, to the car that was transporting her, she tripped over a trash can and scared away a small animal that was busily eating the trash. She landed face down in the garbage. She should have had someone escort her, she was so clumsy in her 4-inch heels.

Tenth Anniversary of the April Blogging from A to Z Challenge – Letter Y is for Years of Cycling in Bipolar Disorder

Tenth Anniversary of the April Blogging from A to Z Challenge

Letter Y is for Years of Cycling in Bipolar Disorder

*******************************

What Is Rapid in Cycling Bipolar Disorder?

Rapid cycling is a pattern of frequent, distinct episodes in bipolar disorder. In rapid cycling, a person with the disorder experiences four or more episodes of mania or depressionin one year. It can occur at any point in the course of bipolar disorder, and can come and go over many years depending on how well the illness is treated; it is not necessarily a “permanent” or indefinite pattern of episodes.

Late for Brunch

By Teresa Smeigh 2019

The ladies were having their weekly Sunday brunch.  Sadie had brought the pitcher of iced tea out to the table and Marcie was right behind her with a tray of glasses. Veronica was busy making finger sandwiches in the kitchen.

Usually there were four of them having brunch each week. The girls worried a little about Ruth, but they had a lot to do to finish setting up the food and drink. Ruth didn’t drink the iced tea. She always had a mixed drink. Marcie started to mix Ruth’s drink once she was done her part in the set-up.

Ruth was still not here. Now the women were getting really concerned.

There was a bang against the front door. It wasn’t a knock exactly just a bang. When Marcie opened the door, Ruth fell into the room gasping. Sadie called 9-1-1. Marcie noticed a rock and wondered what it was. Did someone hit Ruth with it?

The EMT’s arrived quickly and started to work on her. Before they could get her loaded onto their gurney Ruth took her last breath. She never said a word.
