*********************************

If we were to have a coffee chat this weekend it would be to say that my Blood Glucose readings are getting better. I finally went back to the dr’s office and they changed the amount of insulin available for dinner time since my sugars were always high in the evenings. My pump isn’t having fits and warnings now and my numbers are much lower. My carb counting is still somewhat of an issue. Doing better with the infusion site changing although I still need to use the directions. I might have to use them forever. Not sure if I will ever get it. I was looking at the directions for the continuous glucose monitoring that I don’t have, but they sent the instruction book. That looks even more difficult. That would eliminate the need to check the blood myself. It would automatically be constantly checking and feeding the info to the insulin pump. Not sure I can afford that extra piece of equipment. This is working right now.

Still no brunch as my BFF is still sick. Whatever is going around and it is here in my building as well, it is really bad. Taking a few weeks to get rid of. I have really missed our brunches. Hoping she is feeling better next week.

Have a great week everyone!

HAVE FUN!

Today’s prompt: attractive

Antonyms: repellent (also repellant), repelling, repugnant, repulsive, revolting, unalluring

******************************

Bobby was looking for an attractive woman. He was tired of getting stuck with the repulsive looking girls. What was wrong with him?

His best friend, Mark wanted to hook him up with Suzanne Hart. She was a revolting looking girl as well, but Bobby agreed.

When they got together that night, he couldn’t figure out who Mark had brought along. That couldn’t be Suzanne. No way!

Mark practically had to drag the girl over to where Bobby waited. She was attractive. The surprise though was that it was Suzanne. She was a lot prettier than she had ever let on.

Phone Anyone?

By Teresa Smeigh 2019

It was back in the 1980’s and my teenage daughter and her son were out late at night and her car broke down. She didn’t have a cell phone back then and she was quite young. She took her toddler out of his car seat and started walking down the dark street looking for a house with a light on.

She found a house and wondered, “Do they have a phone?” Knocking on the door, they may have peeked out, but they wouldn’t open the door.

Onward until she found another lit house. They answered but refused to let her and the baby inside to make a phone call.

Back out on the dark road she went and finally she found a house that wouldn’t let her in, but they said there was a phone in their garage she could use.

I am so glad for cell phones nowadays. We hated that she was forced to walk down that dark road, late at night, lugging a 2-year-old. I understand people’s reticence to let her in just in case they were leading the way for an ambush, but when your children go through that you get so mad at people.

All posts will be featured in the round-up on Thursday.

Lost

by Teresa Smeigh 2019

The breeze blowing through the trees made the walk bearable, almost. Somehow, Linda had gotten off the path and she had no idea where she was. She continued walking though slower now. She was getting hungry and she had already consumed her lunch. She searched through her backpack looking frantically for a nutrition bar or something to eat.

Up ahead she could see a clearing. As she approached, she knew it was going to be hotter out there without the cover of trees. Now she searched her bag for a bottle of water. Once she finished the bottle of water and her nutrition bar, she braced herself to step out of the trees and into the opening.

Stepping out of the woods she looked around her. The clearing was quite large and full of different size rocks. She selected an area that looked comfortable and sat down for a break and to figure out how she was going to get back to her car.

She heard voices and thought she was dreaming at first. This area was so deserted she doubted it was real voices. Pinching herself to make sure she was awake she sat up and looked around. Way across the clearing was a couple of men and a woman coming out of the woods in another direction from the way she had come.

She watched them approach and realized with horror that the girl was gagged, with her hands tied behind her.

The men pulled guns out and pointed them at her.

“Well, lookee here. One for you Jake!”

“Yeah, she’s prettier than yours too!”

“Is not!”

“Tie her up while we fight this out.”

Linda was horrified. She was afraid to run because they would probably shoot her.

Suddenly she jerked awake. Oh, thank God it was a dream and she was alone in the clearing. Still lost, but at least not a prisoner. She decided it was time to get a move on before something bad did happen least of all that it would be dark soon.

Three Things Challenge: PL37

Three Things Challenge: PL37

Rules from originator:

Welcome to the Three Things Challenge. Every day at 10PM (PST) I will post three seemingly unconnected things that will, hopefully, ignite your muse. You don’t have to use all three things if you don’t want to. There are no restrictions on length, style, genre, or anything. Simply read the prompt, see where your muse takes you, and bring us along for the ride. Use 3TC as a tag if you’d like and link back to this prompt, or post your link in the comments below so others can find you.

Happy Writing! 😀

Today’s prompt: zoo, aluminum, cocoa

**************************

The zoo in our background was growing. Our children kept bringing strays home with them.

I sat on the back patio contemplating all the animals and threw the aluminum can across the open space to the recycling bin. The kids were still finishing their cups of cocoa.

Now it was time to feed the menagerie.

Monsters?

By Teresa Smeigh 2019

“Oh, Allan go to sleep please…”

Allan continued to cry and to refuse to cross the room and get on the bed.

“What is the problem? Are you hungry? Thirsty? What?”

“There’s a monster,” he whined.

We hadn’t done this in a while. I had thought we were past this stage. “If I show you there is no monster would you please go to bed?”

He sniffled some more and finally said OK.

His daddy walked across the room, while Allan held my hand and watched.

He lifted the covers and went to look under the bed when something yelled and jumped out.

Allan and his daddy screamed. I laughed. His older brother had hidden under the bed and waited until we got Allan ready for bed.

When we finally got Allan calmed down and in bed I said, “There is no monster under your bed. It was just your brother and a monster wouldn’t fit under there with him.”

Today’s word: Soothe

Antonyms: distress, torment, torture, trouble

******************************

Nothing I could do was soothing the baby. She continued crying for what seemed forever.

I continued to look to see what was tormenting her. She’d been fed, burped and changed.

I reached down to check to see if she was wet again and I found the trouble. Ouch! The pin in the baby’s diaper had come unhooked and it was sticking her.

(PS I am old enough to have used real diapers and pins and sticking a baby wasn’t totally unusual)
