HAVE FUN!

Today’s Prompt:
discourage

Antonyms:
embolden
encourage
hearten
nerve
steel

We had been jogging for an hour in a new park when we came across an unexpected bridge. It was in bad shape and unsafe so I became discouraged thinking that we would have to turn around and head another way. I liked the scenery on the other side and wanted to continue the way we were going.

Jan encouraged me to look around when she noted that the bridge wasn’t that high and if we looked to either side, we could see other bridges that were in better shape. One had the bottom part that we could swing across like a jungle gym.

Gathering my nerves of steel, I started to follow Jan across swinging from step to step. I was emboldened by how easy she made it look. The scenery on the other side was beautiful and I was glad that Jan had encouraged me to go on.

The Diet

By Teresa Smeigh 2019

“I’ve gained over 50 pounds in the last few months,” Sandy said.

“I’ve got you beat, I gained 75 pounds,” murmured Judy.

“Let’s make a pact and see which of us loses 50 pounds first,” Sandy said knowing Judy’s penchant for snack foods.

Once Judy agreed to the terms, Sandy smiled to herself. “I smell Cheetos.”

Three Things Challenge: PL24

Three Things Challenge: PL24

Rules from originator:

Welcome to the Three Things Challenge. Every day at 10PM (PST) I will post three seemingly unconnected things that will, hopefully, ignite your muse. You don’t have to use all three things if you don’t want to. There are no restrictions on length, style, genre, or anything. Simply read the prompt, see where your muse takes you, and bring us along for the ride. Use 3TC as a tag if you’d like and link back to this prompt, or post your link in the comments below so others can find you.

Happy Writing! 😀

Today’s prompt: chess, aliens, greenhouse

**************************

The greenhouse was off the beaten path and should provide adequate protection from the aliens chasing people out of their houses.

Tom and Ken were playing chess, feeling safe in their nest, when 2 aliens slammed the door opening. The aliens pushed their wives, Jan and Mary into the greenhouse with them.

Tom knocked over the chess board to head to his wife.

“Good going Tom, you were just about to lose and now I am cheated from my win.”

Mary told Ken, “If the alien doesn’t kill you, I will. You are more interested in a chess game at this time? Really?”

High Rise Activities

Here where I live in the senior high-rise we have a painting activity that is provided by the housing authority and paid for by them. It is a great art class and I never painted before, but the teacher has turned me into a painter.

Now they are planning a new project. It would be a second painting class, but this one would be painting on wood and making murals that would be hung throughout our building. Sounds like fun.

We also play BINGO weekly. We just had a change in leaders and things are definitely going better and better prizes, plus a meal of some kind. Whether pizza, subs cut up into chunks or hotdogs and of course some kind of dessert. Occasionally it is just deserts. Fun way to spend an evening.

#WEEKENDCOFFEESHARE : Finally changed the tubing and reservior on my own!

#WEEKENDCOFFEESHARE : Finally changed the tubing and reservior on my insuling pump all on my own!

Directions from ECLECTICALLI

Weekend Coffee Share is a time for us to take a break out of our lives and enjoy some time catching up with friends (old and new)!

Grab a cup of coffee and share with us! What’s been going on in your life? What are your weekend plans? Is there a topic you’ve just been ruminating on that you want to talk about?

All are welcome! Just add your link to the Linky-List, and be sure to visit others and join in their conversations! The link will be open from Friday February 8th at 7am (Pacific Time) until Monday February 11th at 7am (Pacific Time) to give us a good range of “weekend”!

*********************************

If we were to have a coffee chat this weekend it would be about my new insulin pump. I am still having trouble changing the supplies out, but this weekend I did it on my own with a video they gave me. Much easier than the book and pictures. That wasn’t working, but the video was a cross between a book and the real person showing me. I was successful this time.

So with the time change this weekend I had to change the date on it. I looked at every menu (I thought) and couldn’t find the place to change the time. So I called the 24/7 customer service and quickly got the time changed out. The one menu I didn’t check of course. 🙂

Rainy weekend, but the only snow didn’t stay and the next day it rained. Next week is warmer temperatures so some nicer days on tap.

I have to call my pain doctor’s office again (3rd time) to try and get my pain medicine prescription sent over to the pharmacy. I prefer the days of leaving with a paper script and knowing it would get filled when I wanted it. There is always a problem every month and their mistakes can send me into withdrawal if they don’t fix them quick enough.

Sunday is my weekly brunch with my best friend. Always a relaxing way to unwind. Have a good week.
