Stigma about Mental Illness causes People to Put Off Seeking Diagnosis and Treatment

Stop the stigma of mental illness. Please seek help!

“What is Stigma?
· An attempt to label a particular group of people as less worthy of respect than others
· A mark of shame, disgrace or disapproval that results in discrimination
· Not just a matter of using the wrong word or action – its about disrespect”

People with mental health issues sometimes choose to put off seeking much needed treatment, due to stigma in our culture. Once they are diagnosed with a mental illness, people have to live with the problems that go along with being officially diagnosed with a mental illness.

You’re a Winner! – prompt by The Daily Post

You’re a Winner!

You’ve just won $1 billion dollars in the local lottery. You do not have to pay tax on your winnings. How will you spend the money?

First and foremost I would give each family member a share of the winnings to do what they want with now. Not to wait until I die and fight over it.

Secondly I would pay off all my bills.

Thirdly I would buy my own house, preferably small since I like cozy, but maybe a little bigger just in case my kids or grandkids need to stay for awhile.

Fourth I would buy a nice economy car with electronic windows and door locks. I don’t have them now.

Fifth I would make an account or CD of some kind in which to save the rest and try to live off the interest if possible.

And since there would be money in savings I would have to make a will to decide who gets what if there is any left.

PS And Raymond reminded me I forgot the most important part. Giving to charity. I have plenty to choose from with all my illnesses and disorders.

Killed the Mouse – Splat!

Not exactly Splat. I just bought a new one and will give the old one back to my friend and he can deal with it. It was cheap, he was right there.

Now if this one doesn’t work I can return it.

Went to the Chiropractor this morning. My pain is at 8 – 9, instead of 10. He did a re-evaluation. The worst pain is now on my right side and he said this is good news. That means it is working and it will work back to the other side until it hits the middle. I vaguely remember him saying this before way back when I started there about 4 years ago.

He did very little adjustment so no additional pain from that. We’ll see what Monday brings. I also got some more supplements and pain cream to try. My pill box is exploding with pills, vitamins and supplements.

I just ran 6 miles to pick up my grandson from his weekday program and took him home to wait for his mom. I couldn’t figure out which key to use out of 4. I was on the damn porch forever trying 4 keys in 2 different locks. I finally got it. She only needed me for like 15 minutes, but she couldn’t make the 6 PM closing time of the program he goes to.

So far my new mouse is working good. I didn’t go wireless since my wireless is acting up and having trouble keeping it connected to the computer itself. I am back to all wired now include the new wireless printer. It is always something with me and the computer and accessories.

The cat is lying comfortably and quietly on my bed for now. She is the noisiest cat in the world and the pickiest eater. Our dog is picky too and he would rather eat people food.

Oh and I slept for four hours straight again. Good supplements. 4 hours might not be much but when you usually get an hour, I will take the 4 hours.
