Honest Honey the Fish are Dead – (Non-Fiction)

This was about 30 years ago. My then husband, A, and I and of course our 2 daughters K1 and K2 were with us. Our son, W, wasn’t born yet.

We lived in North Carolina at the time because A was in the Marine Corps. We lived on base and the housing wasn’t 2 bad.

Every weekend we went down to the shore and to our favorite pier and fished. Now I am afraid to touch fish, worms and other equally disgusting things. I put shrimp on my fishing pole. If I caught something A would have to take it off the line. That was all there was to it.

K1 would run around and kick the sharks off the pier. The others weren’t too happy about that. They didn’t want them back in the water to catch. She wasn’t more than 3 years old at the most. K2 was around 2 years old or so and was in the playpen and practicing for her future career as a pitcher. She threw everything across the pier and into the water including her bottle. Great job.!

This one day we caught a lot of fish and A didn’t eat fish. He usually cleaned them for me. This day he said if I wanted to eat them I had to clean them. We took them home and he dumped them in the sink.

“Relax, they are all dead now and they won’t hurt you.”

I looked at him and the sink and he hand me the knife.

I tried to pick one up very carefully. It was slippery and kept sliding back into the sink. I finally got a couple cleaned and picked up another one.

Well it moved in my hand and the next thing I knew a fish went flying through the air and into the wall. Splat! The knife followed it.

That was it! I was done cleaning fish. A finally finished cleaning them for me.

I never, ever touched another one dead or alive, which was interesting when the kids wanted to fish in the lake in front of our house and actually caught a fish. “Wait til your dad gets home!”

My purpose in blogging has changed a bit over the months. For one thing my Bipolar Disorder and my Borderline Personality Disorder are currently stable and I am able to think clearer. I have decided to get involved in Advocacy for Invisible Illnesses in any way I can. I intend to share my experiences with all of my invisible illnesses so that it may help someone who is feeling lost. I post anything about my life. No holding back if it will help. I am also finding my way back to God and to try and make my life more positive although I know that makes some people cringe. 🙂

No nominees for me. All my blogger friends are worthy. Feel free to do this award if you would like.

And I just know I am one of your most loyal people and you would have nominated me. Right, right???

The rules are standard, so more things about me coming up!

1. I have almost abandoned Facebook. Just use it to promote my blogs and have Facebook pages for both.

2. I hate filling out forms, of any kind. OH me TOO. I hate going to the doctor’s office and they hand you a packet to fill out. NO!

3. I hated playing outside as a child, HATED IT! Come to think of it I do as an adult as well.

4. I love either a man in a perfectly fitted suit or the ruggedness of a pure cowboy.

5. Lush tropical Islands, but plenty of shade so I can lie out there and not get sun poisoning again.

6. I hide from the World. I love my online world. I feel more comfortable. People (real people in person) scare me! My kids do not understand me.

7. Too many veggies as we found out upset my tummy (and my son hates the word tummy, but he isn’t reading this so poo on him). I will say Tummy if I want to. So there!

Again, no nominations. My most loyal friends here know who they are without me pointing them out in public, a thing some of them are uncomfortable with. Thank you, all of you. 🙂 Participate if you feel up to it or not!
