Tuesday at Ten { I truly believe . . . }

New Tuesday at Ten logo - 5-21-15
Welcome to Tuesday at Ten! The Tuesday blog Link up where you have 6 full days to use the “prompt phrase” as a part of your writing.

Each week I post a prompt phrase and you finish the phrase and write how that phrase fits you and your life or your thoughts.

Whether it be just writing a story behind the phrase or being as creative as you wish using photos, poems, art, or graphics – whichever creative way you choose.

You have 6 days to write and link up your blog at the bottom of the page so that others can link up with you.

Be sure to visit your “link up” neighbor and spread the joy of connection! A new Prompt word is posted every Tuesday Morning at 10am, the link up closes at 11pm the night before.

Every Monday evening (the day before the new word is posted) I will choose ONE highlighted writer of the week to be highlighted and shared on the Tuesday at Ten Facebook page for all to see. You will also get an award graphic for that week to post on your blog.

Make sure to visit the Tuesday at Ten Facebook page to view the winner and for daily news!

Remember  – it’s not about being perfect, it’s about being YOU. Have FUN!

Today’s Prompt PHRASE is { I truly believe . . . . .  }

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I truly believe that God wants me to be an advocate for Invisible Illnesses and help those that need support.  I believe he wants me to speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves. Who else would know what we need, than someone who already suffers from numerous Invisible Illnesses herself?
Those of us with Invisible Illnesses are usually treated unfairly. We are considered drug seekers. We are considered attention seekers. We are called lazy and useless. Emergency Rooms do not want to treat us, they figure we are just seeking attention or drugs. We are considered to be seeking to not work and live on the measly pittance the government gives us to live on. No one can live on that.
People actually think we like living this way. Not only are we treated badly, but we suffer pain both mentally and physically. Those of us with these conditions would rather work than suffer the pain we are put through on a daily basis. Some days are worse than others.
Why would we want to miss out on the finer things in life to hole up in our houses, if we are still able to afford one, and miss out on the fun that is available to those of this world who are normal?
I am going to do what I can to help those who have a need for advocacy and for myself as well. It is time people realize that we aren’t making up these illnesses and that we need to be treated normally as any other illness would be treated.
      There are many illnesses and disorders out there that qualify as invisible illnesses. Mental illnesses are considered invisible illnesses. Fibromyalgia and other disorders that cause chronic pain are invisible disorders. People don’t care about us. We don’t look sick therefore we must be okay. Does that help you understand just a little bit more?
        Yes, one of my close relative was found to be ill only when she was taken to psychiatrist. She was suffering from it long time, but no one noticed it until it become worse. I guess those qualify for invisible illness.
    Thank you for Speaking up for these people. Like the pope says “Who Am I to Judge”. I donate a small amount two local charities that helps the needy in our area.
    I have no ideal why these people are in need. But my little bit of giving will give them a hand up instead of down. It well worth it…Coffee is on
      Thank you for your help. Who knows whose life you make a little bit better. There are many reasons that there are needy out there and some of them might just be those that are sick with one of these invisible illnesses and no longer able to work and care for their families.
      You are right. There are more and more people beginning to understand and give some compassion and help. Thank you for the prayers on behalf of all of us who suffer.
    Thank you Tessa for your advocacy! I too suffer from chronic bronchitis and am “disabled”; although I can do many things, I have very little energy to do a lot and get tired so easily. We make it OK with my disability check and my husband’s social security…but barely. I haven’t actually been on the receiving end of negativity from anyone; but I am sure there ARE people out there that don’t really know me that may be talking. I really don’t care! My friends and family know; and GOD knows! Appreciate so much your post! Thanks for sharing!
      Barbara thank you for stopping by. I have made it my crusade to help those with chronic and/or invisible illnesses. I suffer too. I know what it is like. I screwed up most of my younger life, but now I have a chance to do something good for the world to help others and myself. I just have to figure out exactly what it is I can do to help.
